Hebron’s Jewish community finishes restoring tomb belonging to ancestors of biblical King David

The Jewish community of Hebron has completed a four-year, million-dollar restoration of the Tomb of Yishai and Ruth, believed to be the burial site of King David's father and great-grandmother, located atop Tel Hebron in the West Bank. Spearheaded by Yishai Fleisher, the project aimed to enhance the site's spiritual significance and appeal to younger generations. The renovation introduced a turquoise design, departing from traditional colors, and included new stone graves, calligraphic inscriptions, and a Star of David. Additionally, a new synagogue, study hall, and visitor amenities were established, alongside the restoration of a Byzantine-era chamber into a scribe's studio. Fleisher stated, "We wanted to bring the sanctity of Safed's turquoise into the heart of Hebron."
