'He's from Muslim Brotherhood': Otzma Yehudit calls to bar Ra'am MK Abbas from Knesset elections

Otzma Yehudit has called for Ra'am chairman MK Mansour Abbas to be disqualified from running for the Knesset following his recent remarks. The party stated, "He's from the Muslim Brotherhood," after Abbas claimed Arab parties were compelled to accept Israel as a Jewish state to avoid electoral disqualification. Abbas clarified his position on Facebook, stating that accepting Israel's Jewish character was "a reality imposed on us and we did not choose it," reflecting the Jewish majority's choice rather than an Arab demand. He emphasized his political priority is to strengthen Arab citizens' standing and secure rights within government. Brig.-Gen. (res.) Ofer Winter and former UN ambassador Gilad Erdan also supported barring Abbas from the Knesset, with Erdan asserting, "He does not want a Jewish state here; he wants an Islamic caliphate."
