High Court freezes legal proceedings against former IDF legal chief Tomer-Yerushalmi

The Supreme Court has temporarily frozen legal proceedings against former Military Advocate General Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, who is implicated in leaking a video alleging abuse of Palestinian prisoners at Sde Teman prison. This decision follows a request for an additional hearing by Likud MK Avichai Boaron and the Lavi organization, challenging a previous ruling that found no grounds for judicial intervention in the investigation. Supreme Court Justice David Mintz had argued in a minority opinion that the investigation required oversight due to its sensitivity. Justice Dafna Barak-Erez issued the temporary freeze, stating, "For the sake of caution and without taking a position at this stage, I order a stay of execution of the ruling that is the subject of the request, by freezing the current situation regarding the handling of the investigation file by the state attorney, until another decision is issued." The High Court will now determine whether to hold another hearing with an expanded panel of judges.
