Hormuz agreement requires ships to coordinate with Iran while on Omani side, sources tell 'Post'

A temporary 60-day agreement between Iran and Oman mandates that ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz must coordinate with Iran, even when exiting from the Omani side. Under this arrangement, vessels are required to enter the strait on the Iranian side and exit from the Omani side. The agreement facilitates the clearing of mines from the central sections of the waterway, predominantly on the Omani side. Diplomatic sources also indicated that ships will not be charged fees, though Iran is expected to encourage voluntary payments for "insurance, environmental quality fees." Negotiations for a permanent solution for the Strait of Hormuz, alongside nuclear talks, will continue during this period.
