Houthis declare maritime embargo against 'criminal enemy' Saudi Arabia

The Iranian-backed Houthi organization in Yemen declared an immediate maritime embargo against Saudi Arabia on Monday, following a Houthi-claimed attack on Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree stated, "We declare a maritime embargo against the criminal Saudi enemy, based on the equation of 'an eye for an eye,' effective immediately upon the issuance of this statement." This declaration comes after the Houthis claimed to have targeted Abha International Airport on July 13 with "a number of ballistic missiles and drones" in response to alleged Saudi strikes on Sana'a International Airport. Yemen's internationally recognized government, backed by Saudi Arabia, took responsibility for the Sana'a strike, asserting it was to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing.
