Houthis kill at least 45 soldiers in deadliest Yemen attack since 2022

At least 45 Yemeni government soldiers were killed and 50 wounded in a large-scale Houthi attack on military camps in Marib and Hadramawt provinces. This is considered one of the deadliest escalations since an unofficial ceasefire in April 2022. The Houthis claimed responsibility, stating they used ballistic missiles and drones against "concentrations of Saudi forces" and that the operation was in response to a "large Saudi military buildup." Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree declared, "We are ready to confront any escalation." The attack follows weeks of deteriorating relations, including a Houthi "naval siege" in the Red Sea and claims of missile launches against Saudi oil tankers.
