Hundreds gather at anti-government protest demanding Oct. 7 state commission of inquiry

Hundreds gathered at Habima Square in Tel Aviv on Saturday evening for an anti-government protest organized by the Movement for Quality Government and the Protest Organizations Forum. Demonstrators demanded a state commission of inquiry into the events of October 7, equality in national burden-sharing, and protection of the judicial system. Speakers, including bereaved family members and public figures, sharply criticized the government. Shir Mathias, whose parents were killed on October 7, stated, "Only a state commission of inquiry, free of political characteristics, neutral, and professional, can uncover the truth." Maj.-Gen. (res.) Dr. Yom Tov Samia urged right-wing voters to correct the government, while Attorney Stav Livne Lahav criticized a law exempting Haredi draft evaders. Sarit Massachi Kobrigo called for a constitution based on the Declaration of Independence, ensuring that "the law applies to everyone, obligations are shared by everyone, rights belong to everyone, and no person or government is above the law."
