Hundreds of haredim protest outside military prison following draft dodger arrest

Hundreds of Haredi demonstrators, primarily from the Gur Hassidic sect, protested outside Military Prison 10 in Beit Lid on Monday following the arrest of a draft dodger. The arrested individual, also from the Gur community, was sentenced to 20 days in prison after attempting to arrange a service exemption at a draft office. The Gur Rebbe and United Torah Judaism chairman MK Yitzhak Goldknopf attended the demonstration. Footage showed some protesters attempting to tear down a fence, despite calls for non-violence from the Gur community. This incident follows previous Haredi protests at the same prison on July 9 and June 22, which involved clashes with IDF soldiers and entry into restricted military areas.
