Hundreds rally in New York City to condemn Mamdani after stabbing attacks

Hundreds gathered in New York City's Upper West Side for a "United Against Hate" rally organized by the #EndJewHatred movement, condemning Mayor Zohran Mamdani following two stabbing attacks. The attacks, which occurred on Thursday, involved a suspect shouting “Allahu Akbar” and targeting a Jewish man and an Asian man. Organizers and speakers at the rally accused Mamdani's administration of fostering a dangerous climate through "soft-on-crime legislation and inflammatory political discourse," particularly concerning his rhetoric on Israel and Jewish residents. Assembly Member Michael Novakhov announced he is formally calling on the US Department of Justice to open a civil rights investigation into New York City, New York State, and Mamdani. Rabbi Avi Weiss stated, “You, Mamdani, are throwing gasoline on the fire, pitting one community against the other after that vile video.” A smaller counter-protest defended the mayor. Mamdani responded, “There's no tolerance for antisemitism in this city. We have to root out antisemitism from across the five boroughs.”
