IAC urges Ed Sheeran to drop Macklemore after anti-Israel act

The Israeli-American Council (IAC) has launched a petition urging British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and tour organizers to remove U.S. rapper Macklemore from the remaining dates of the “Loop Tour.” This demand follows Macklemore's opening set at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he delivered an “anti-Israel political message” to over 80,000 attendees. During his performance, Macklemore called for “Free Palestine,” performed his song “Hind’s Hall,” and projected images from Gaza and political propaganda on screens.

• The IAC stated, “This was an Ed Sheeran concert—not a political rally, not a protest, and not an activist event.”
• The petition, which also targets tour venues and promoter Live Nation, argues that “Freedom of expression does not mean freedom from responsibility. Your show. Your stage. Your responsibility.”
• Both StopAntisemitism and the Anti-Defamation League condemned Macklemore’s performance, with the ADL noting his “record of demonizing Israel and Israelis, falsely accusing Israel of genocide and engaging in antisemitic rhetoric and behavior.”
