ICC members vote to dismiss embattled prosecutor behind Netanyahu arrest warrant

International Criminal Court (ICC) member states voted to dismiss prosecutor Karim Khan following allegations of sexual assault by a staff member. Khan, 56, was suspended last month and 82 of 125 members voted for his removal in a secret ballot held at UN headquarters in New York. The alleged victim, a Malaysian lawyer, described "an escalation of attempts" that resulted in physical assault, stating, "There is no way for something to be consensual when you have such a power disparity." Khan, who denies the accusations, had previously sought arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, which remain unaffected by his dismissal. Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar called Khan's removal "long-delayed." Venezuela also announced its withdrawal from the court, citing a "demonstrated geographical bias."
