IDF accuses Zvi Sukkot of lying, manipulating troops after smashing Palestinian monument

The IDF issued a sharp rebuke against Religious Zionism lawmaker Zvi Sukkot after he was filmed destroying a Palestinian monument in Madama village near Nablus. The military accused Sukkot of "deceitfully and manipulatively" exceeding his authority and exploiting his security escort during a coordinated tour, putting troops at unnecessary risk. Sukkot, chairman of the Knesset Education Committee, stated he acted because the army failed to remove monuments he claimed glorified terrorists, saying, "So I came myself and acted to remove them." The IDF clarified it regularly removes such monuments but only with proper approvals and coordination, noting another removal operation was already planned. This incident follows a previous complaint from the IDF Chief of Staff regarding Sukkot's diversion of military resources for a visit to Joseph's Tomb.
