IDF announces rotation of forces in Syria, West Bank regions amid High Holy Days, terror attacks

The IDF announced a rotation of forces, with the 228th Brigade completing its mission in Syria and being replaced by the 2nd Brigade. During their three-month deployment, the 228th Brigade conducted operations, apprehended operatives, dismantled infrastructure, and located weapons. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa demanded an Israeli withdrawal from the security zone, stating, "There have been 500 airstrikes, more than 1200 incursions, and 300 detentions." Defense Minister Israel Katz responded, "The Golan, under Israeli sovereignty, is an inseparable part of the State of Israel." Additionally, the 98th Division Headquarters will move to the West Bank to strengthen defensive and offensive capabilities, assuming command of the Judea and Etzion Regional Brigades following recent terror attacks, including a car-ramming incident at the Maccabim checkpoint.
