IDF Atidim launches first dedicated engineering track for haredi, minority students

The IDF Atidim Directorate has launched its first dedicated engineering track for haredi and other minority students, a new initiative under the Pa'amei Atidim program. Dozens of students will pursue a practical engineering diploma at Ariel University's Practical Engineering College before enlisting. Upon completion, they will join leading technological units in the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate and earn a full engineering degree during their service. An authorized military official stated, "This is a step that opens up a world that until now was almost entirely closed to the haredi public." Lt.-Col. Peleg, head of the Atidim Directorate, emphasized that "Military Intelligence and the technological units need talented people from every part of Israeli society," highlighting the program's role in providing an entry point into engineering while accommodating their way of life.
