IDF begins construction of six new training bases incorporating lessons from Oct. 7

The IDF is constructing six new training bases for the 7th, 188th, 401st, Kfir, Nahal, and Givati Brigades, incorporating lessons from the October 7 attacks. A senior Defense Ministry official stated, "The entire training and instruction environment will change following the establishment of the new training bases." These bases will feature improved soldier amenities, advanced technology, simulators, and rapid access for armored vehicles to training areas. Construction is underway for several bases, with the 7th Brigade's base in northern Israel expected to receive recruits by August 2028, and the 188th Brigade's base in the Jordan Valley by August 2027. The Givati Brigade base, delayed for over a decade, is projected for completion around 2031-2032. Planning includes covered tank maintenance centers, urban warfare facilities, specialist medical clinics, and company-level living quarters designed for efficiency and soldier comfort, with security components based on October 7 lessons.
