IDF chief Eyal Zamir orders legal review of ‘NAZA’ Gaza war film over ‘blood libels’

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir has ordered a legal review of the documentary film 'NAZA,' which he describes as spreading “blood libels” and containing “deliberate distortions of reality, and grave, false accusations against IDF soldiers and commanders.” The film, by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and is based on interviews with Israeli soldiers regarding operations in Gaza that allegedly resulted in systematic civilian casualties. Zamir stated, “This is an attack on the State of Israel, not only the IDF.” He has directed the Military Advocate General to explore legal measures against the filmmakers and is establishing a team of experts to address allegations against the IDF. IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Effie Defrin also called the film's claims “false” but emphasized the importance of IDF representatives watching the full film to address its points comprehensively.
