IDF chief: Israel prepared to respond after Iranian shrapnel lands in Eilat

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir stated that Israel is prepared to respond after shrapnel from an Iranian ballistic missile, originally aimed at Jordan, landed near Eilat. Speaking to commanders in the West Bank, Zamir emphasized, "we are closely following the developments with Iran and maintaining a high level of readiness." He added, "We are ready to immediately return to war, and we will act with great power against anyone who harms us." The incident involved the Iron Dome intercepting fragments of the missile after a US Aegis system had engaged the primary warhead. No casualties or damage occurred in Eilat, and while the attack was aimed at Jordan, IDF sources indicated this brought Israel closer to a war footing.
