IDF chief: Security zone in Lebanon remains unchanged after strategic Hezbollah base dismantled

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently completed an operation to dismantle Hezbollah's underground infrastructure beneath the Ali al-Taher Ridge in southeastern Lebanon, according to IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. This strategic base, built with Iranian assistance over two decades, was intended to facilitate Hezbollah's planned conquest of the Galilee and provided observation and fire control over northern Israeli communities. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the destruction of the sprawling network, which included over 5,400 meters of tunnels.

"We will defend our communities at any cost—the IDF stands as a shield on the front line."

Zamir emphasized that the "Yellow Line," delineating Israeli operational control in Southern Lebanon, remains unchanged. He also called on the Lebanese Armed Forces to demonstrate effectiveness on the ground for the U.S.-brokered disengagement agreement to advance, warning that any village with terrorist infrastructure puts itself at risk.
