IDF moves to widen combat eligibility as manpower shortages deepen

The IDF is planning to introduce a new medical profile, 70, to increase the number of recruits eligible for combat roles, addressing deepening manpower shortages. This profile will allow individuals previously limited to rear-echelon positions to be considered for various combat and combat-support roles, excluding infantry. The initiative aims to better utilize the potential of new recruits and expand service opportunities. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stated, "This move will make it possible to expand the ranks of those serving, improve placement matching and broaden opportunities for individuals to serve as combat soldiers." The Medical Corps and Personnel Directorate are jointly conducting staff work, with details to be released upon completion.
