‘IDF preparing for all scenarios’

An IDF source informed JNS that the Israeli military is "preparing for all scenarios" amid the ongoing low-grade conflict between the United States and Iran in the Persian Gulf. Brig. Gen. (res.) Professor Jacob Nagel, former head of Israel’s National Security Council, stated that the June 17 Islamabad Agreement between Tehran and Washington was "fundamentally flawed and mainly reflected the strong desire of the U.S. to reach an agreement at almost any cost." This led to a "hollow and perforated" agreement, with each side interpreting it differently, particularly regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the flow of funds. Nagel noted that the IDF is refreshing its target bank in Iran, including previously unattacked targets and those being rehabilitated in nuclear, missile, and governmental sectors. He also suggested examining targets affecting the Iranian economy and public will. Nagel outlined three potential scenarios: a continued exchange of blows, escalation into a wider regional conflict, or a return to diplomatic discussions, with the latter being the most problematic for Israel.
