The IDF has released new footage and details regarding its operation to secure and destroy Hezbollah's underground infrastructure on the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. This operation, codenamed "Chisel of Flames," involved the 36th Division, Commando Brigade, and Yahalom special engineering unit, and resulted in the destruction of 14 tunnel routes, totaling 5.4 kilometers, using 1,100 tons of explosives. Brig.-Gen. Yiftach Norkin, commander of the 36th Division, stated, "The Commando Brigade and the Yahalom Unit... led one of the most complex operations we have ever carried out." The IDF reported that approximately 50 entrenched Hezbollah terrorists were killed, and the strategic infrastructure, built over two decades, was eliminated, severely damaging Hezbollah's command and control capabilities. A senior military official noted, "The entire work of more than 20 years of building such a significant infrastructure collapsed into nothing." Hezbollah's appeals for Iranian assistance reportedly received a cold response, and the IDF plans to maintain control of the area, preventing Hezbollah's return.
