IDF reservist indicted over stolen IDF rifle, drug ring that supplied soldiers

An IDF reservist and a civilian were indicted on Monday following an investigation into the theft of an M16 rifle from a northern IDF base on June 20. The 30-year-old reservist from Tiberias was indicted by the Military Prosecution for his alleged involvement in the rifle's theft and trafficking. The civilian, a 30-year-old Kiryat Tivon resident, was indicted by the Northern District Attorney's Office for trafficking the stolen weapon.

• The investigation also uncovered a drug trafficking network, allegedly operated by the Kiryat Tivon resident and a 34-year-old Tiberias resident, that supplied cocaine and other drugs, including to soldiers on military bases in northern Israel.
• Police prosecutors in Kiryat Shmona are set to indict the 34-year-old Tiberias resident on drug-trafficking charges.
• An IDF major, the reservist's brother, is expected to be indicted separately for obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit a crime, and allegedly supplying medical cannabis to the other suspects.
