IDF to discipline Givati soldiers who refused to board APC with female paramedic

Soldiers from the Givati Brigade's Rotem Battalion are expected to face disciplinary action after refusing to board an armored personnel carrier with a female paramedic during an operational drill on Wednesday. The IDF stated that the force's refusal led to the cancellation of the activity, and an investigation is underway with command measures to follow. This incident occurs amidst ongoing debate regarding women's integration into combat roles. The IDF previously clarified that the High Court of Justice only ordered a pilot program for female combat soldiers in the Armored Corps, not full integration. IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir has emphasized the importance of integrating all sectors while ensuring that "complex integration of women in the military will always be carried out in a manner that allows one sector of the public to serve alongside another, and not at its expense." He also stated there is no intention to place men and women together in tank crews, and if successful, integration would occur within a designated framework.
