‘If you boycott Israel, we boycott you’: Florida Rep. Fine warns UK of consequences – interview

Florida Rep. Randy Fine warned the UK that its recent sanctions against Israeli settlements and individuals in the West Bank could lead to severe economic consequences for British companies. Fine, a key figure in Florida's pro-Israel legislative efforts, attributed the UK's policy shift to internal demographics and a "desperate effort" to court specific voter blocs, calling it "disgusting." He emphasized that Florida's anti-BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) law mandates that the state will not do business with entities boycotting Israel. "The law in the state of Florida is that if you boycott Israel, we boycott you," Fine stated. He cited the 2018 Airbnb case as an example of Florida's enforcement, which led Airbnb to reverse its policy on Israeli settlements. Fine asserted that the combined economies of Florida and Texas are larger than the UK's, and that similar anti-boycott laws in 18-38 other US states could create a widespread "ripple effect," potentially bankrupting British firms operating in the US.
