In the Michigan US Senate race, Republican Mike Rogers is reportedly signaling to AIPAC that he prefers they refrain from direct spending in his favor, aiming to avoid potential attacks from his Democratic opponent, Abdul El-Sayed. This move highlights a growing concern among pro-Israel groups that AIPAC's visibility could be a liability. Despite this, Rogers has attended AIPAC-connected fundraisers, and many Jewish donors remain supportive. Dennis Bernard, a political fundraiser, described Rogers' approach as a “tactical strategy” to navigate the changing political landscape regarding Jewish money. AIPAC spokesperson Deryn Sousa stated, “The Rogers campaign has been explicit with us that they welcome support from AIPAC and our members.” Rogers is also actively seeking to attract Jewish voters, with Rabbi Asher Lopatin publicly endorsing him, citing El-Sayed's “contempt for the Jewish community and, frankly, for American values.”
