United Airlines is scheduled to resume flights to Israel on September 8, offering two daily routes from Newark to Tel Aviv, according to an N12 report. This return is expected to intensify competition on Israel-US routes. KLM also restarted its Tel Aviv-Amsterdam service on August 25, with a technical stopover in Larnaca, Cyprus. Lufthansa plans to expand its flights to and from Israel, aiming for up to 67 weekly flights starting in September. Additionally, Israeli carrier Israir received approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel to operate flights to the US and is expected to apply to the US FAA for final approval for New York flights.
