A New York Times report on Tuesday indicates that Iran has adapted its attack methods against US military bases in the Middle East, forcing the US to deplete its limited supply of Patriot interceptors. In June, Iran launched waves of drones and missiles at three US bases in Jordan, utilizing missiles capable of sudden course changes to overwhelm American air defenses. A July 17 Iranian strike in Jordan killed three US soldiers, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stating, "We shot down almost all the missiles, one leaked through.” The US Army has reportedly used "virtually all" of its highly accurate long-range missiles during the five-month conflict, with fewer than 1,700 Patriot interceptors remaining. This shortage also impacts other munitions, such as ATACMs, which are in demand by Ukraine.
