Iran war cost $33 billion as of late June, per Pentagon inspector general report

A recent report by the inspectors general of the U.S. Departments of Defense, State, and USAID details the significant costs and challenges of "Operation Epic Fury" against Iran. As of June 29, the Pentagon estimated the operation's cost at $33.4 billion, including $22.3 billion for expended munitions and $3.7 billion in equipment losses. The report highlights "strategic inventory shortfalls and revealed industrial base bottlenecks for munitions resupply," with U.S. diplomatic facilities in four countries sustaining approximately $184 million in damage, particularly in Iraq. Additionally, 14 U.S. service members were killed and 417 wounded during combat operations between February 28 and June 30. The report notes that U.S. and partner forces intercepted over 7,500 Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
