Iranian assassination threat prompted secret Trump transportation switch – report

An Iranian assassination threat against then-US President Donald Trump prompted a secret operation in July, where Trump was covertly transferred to an alternate military aircraft while traveling from Turkey to the UK. The White House publicly maintained the impression that Trump was on the older Air Force One, even as journalists and some staff believed they were traveling with him on the decoy plane. Trump boarded Air Force One in front of cameras, then was secretly moved via a catering truck to a smaller C-32A aircraft, which flew him to the UK. The older Air Force One, carrying the press, used the call sign "AF1" despite Trump not being aboard, while the C-32A used a generic call sign and had its tracking systems turned off. Upon arrival in the UK, Trump reappeared from the older Air Force One, maintaining the deception. The White House defended its security measures, stating, "we use every tool at our disposal to address those threats."
