Iranian attacks on US intelligence sites and hardware during the recent conflict caused billions of dollars in damage, according to an NBC report citing informed sources. These missile and drone strikes on US assets in the Middle East necessitated additional funding from the US Congress for repairs. The targeted sites, some shared with the US military, included a CIA station in Riyadh, a site in eastern Iraq, and various radar and surveillance equipment across the region. The report indicated that these attacks represent an "unprecedented threat to the CIA and other US intelligence agencies" and raised concerns within the US military and intelligence community regarding the country's defensive capabilities. Early in the war, Iran specifically targeted multiple US air defense battery radars, including AN/TPY-2 and AN/FPS-12 systems in Jordan and Qatar, respectively, with other systems damaged in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. A CSIS report estimated that between February and July, approximately 65% of Patriot interceptors and at least 38% of THAAD ballistic missile interceptors were expended.
