Iran Human Rights (IHR) reports a significant increase in executions by the Iranian regime, with at least 47 political prisoners executed this year compared to 16 at the same time last year. This surge is believed to be a response to recent US strikes. Among those on death row are brothers Hadi and Fazlollah Nikbakht, sentenced for "corruption on earth" after attempting to prevent authorities from seizing their farmland. Ahwaz dissident Hamid Mutashar stated, "The Iranian regime's accelerated execution spree in the aftermath of the recent US strikes is a desperate, criminal response, a clear admission of its fear and impending collapse." Dissidents like Shabnam Assadollahi and Ahmad Obali are calling for international intervention, emphasizing that the regime is using fear to maintain power and that the international community must act to prevent further human rights abuses and regional instability.
