Iran's Pezeshkian says Tehran will reciprocate if US honors interim deal commitments – report

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Tuesday at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Bishkek that Iran would immediately reciprocate if the US honored its commitments under an interim deal signed in June. Pezeshkian, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan advocating for diplomacy over armed conflict, held sideline meetings with various leaders, including Russia's Vladimir Putin, India's Narendra Modi, and China's Xi Jinping, emphasizing that "continued war was in no one's interest." The summit also saw Pezeshkian meet with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and other officials. Separately, reports indicated Pezeshkian met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in late July to discuss military affairs, the economy, and foreign economic ties, despite the President's recent conflicting statements about his access to the Supreme Leader, who has maintained a low public profile since succeeding his father in March.
