Iran's targeting of US bases may have used Russian spy satellite imagery – report

A CNN report, citing US officials, suggests that Iranian drone and missile attacks on US bases during Operation Epic Fury, including the March 27 strike on Prince Sultan Air Base, may have utilized Russian spy satellite imagery. These satellites reportedly provided crucial information to Tehran, flying over US military installations shortly before Iranian operations. The report indicates that Russian satellites played a "vital role" in the Prince Sultan Air Base attack, which injured 12 US soldiers and destroyed a US Air Force AWACS aircraft. CNN's analysis of tracking data showed satellites, equipped for detailed imagery and target location, passed over targeted areas just prior to the strikes, suggesting the precision of these attacks would be impossible without such assistance. Saudi expert Dr. Nawaf Obaid stated, "This is Russian payback with interest," attributing Russia's aid to Iran to US assistance to Ukraine.
