Ireland gov't's new €53m. jet can't land in fog, lacks Elbit-manufactured system needed- report

Ireland's new €53 million government jet, a Dassault Falcon 6X delivered in December 2025, reportedly lacks the FalconEye system, co-developed by Dassault Falcon and Elbit Systems, which is crucial for landing in foggy conditions. This system merges enhanced real-world video with synthetic terrain mapping to provide pilots with situational awareness in low visibility. The Irish Defense Department, however, stated the aircraft has “no current limits” on its operational capability. This comes despite a 2024 statement by then-Foreign Minister Micheal Martin, now Taoiseach, that Ireland would not purchase equipment with Israeli-made products. The Journal also reported that four Irish Air Corps helicopters and a maritime patrol craft were delivered with Israeli-co-developed flight systems and an Israeli-made radar, respectively.
