Jessica Bowie, 35, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly plotting to bomb the New York State Capitol building in Albany. Bowie, who converted to Islam five years ago and expressed support for ISIS online, made her initial federal court appearance on Thursday.
"I want to destroy as much of the building as possible and kill the senators while they are meeting,"
she allegedly told an FBI agent posing as an ISIS facilitator. She also expressed a desire to flee to Syria after the attack. Bowie allegedly conducted surveillance of the Capitol, purchased bomb-making materials, and sought to obtain a firearm. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the FBI "stopped yet another alleged terrorist attack."
