Islamist terrorists kill 10 police officers in northwest Pakistan, say police

Ten police officers were killed in a drone attack and ambush by Islamist terrorists at a police post in Pakistan's Hangu district, near the Afghan border, on Wednesday. This marks the second such assault within a week in an area known for housing terrorist groups. Police stated that terrorists ambushed the checkpoint after using improvised explosive devices attached to quadcopters, resulting in several hours of fighting that also killed 15 attackers. Zulfikar Hameed, the provincial police chief, confirmed the casualties. Terrorism in Pakistan's border regions has escalated recently, primarily targeting military and police, with Islamabad alleging that terrorists utilize safe havens in Afghanistan for training and planning attacks. Afghanistan's Taliban government denies these claims, asserting that terrorism is Pakistan's internal issue. No group has claimed responsibility for this latest attack, which follows a suicide bombing days earlier in the nearby Tank district, claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
