Israel and Honduras deepen defense ties with new memorandum of understanding

Israel and Honduras signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Sunday to deepen defense cooperation. The agreement was signed by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and Honduran Defense Minister Enrique Rodríguez Burchard. The ceremony included high-ranking officials from both nations, and the Honduran delegation engaged in extensive security discussions with Israel Ministry of Defense Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram, covering shared strategic issues and potential cooperation expansion. Honduran officials also received briefings on lessons from Israel's recent conflicts and its defense industry. This MOU is part of Israel's strategy to broaden defense partnerships and strengthen ties with allies. Honduras has been a significant international supporter of Israel, notably voting against a 2017 UN resolution condemning the US's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moving its embassy to Jerusalem in 2021.
