Israel briefly closes Al-Aqsa Mosque gate under pretext of military drills

Israeli forces briefly closed the King Faisal Gate, an entrance to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, on Tuesday for approximately 30 minutes during military drills, according to Palestinian officials and the Jerusalem Governorate. The closure, which also involved tightened restrictions at other gates, disrupted the movement of worshippers. This incident is part of escalating Israeli actions at the holy site; the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs reported 26 incursions into the compound in June. Palestinians view these actions as an intensification of efforts to "Judaize occupied East Jerusalem" and erase its Arab and Islamic identity.
