Israel Confirms Participation in 2027 Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria

Israel's national broadcaster Kan has confirmed the country's participation in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Bulgaria. The Israeli representative will be chosen through the reality television show "HaKokhav HaBa" ("The Next Star"), a method used for previous contestants including Noam Bettan, who placed second in the 2026 Eurovision. The song selection process will involve an anonymous submission system, allowing songwriters to use AI for demo vocals to maintain anonymity. Kan stated, "The committee, which will be composed of professionals from Kan and a representative from Keshet, will filter approximately 40 songs in the first stage, from which the winning song will be selected." Despite pressure from anti-Israel activists and some countries boycotting the 2026 event due to Israel's involvement, Israel has won the contest four times previously.
