Israel, Greece, Cyprus united against Turkish-led Islamic extremism, Israeli minister tells Christian lawmakers
Israel's Diaspora affairs and combating antisemitism minister has long viewed Ankara as a regional threat due to its open support for Hamas and other jihadist forces.
Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli stated on Tuesday that "Israel is united with both Greece and Cyprus against Islamic extremism in the region led by Turkey." Speaking to a delegation from the National Association of Christian Lawmakers, Chikli criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his support of Hamas and other jihadist groups, viewing him as a regional threat. He also praised Israel's Christian society as the "safest across the whole Muslim world and the Middle East," while condemning recent attacks by ultra-Orthodox extremists against Christians in Israel. Chikli emphasized the need to educate ultra-Orthodox youth, stating, "Christianity is our sister religion."
