Israel hits back at 15 countries, EU over criticism of UNRWA compound seizure

Israel's Foreign Ministry criticized a joint statement from 15 countries and the European Union condemning Israel's seizure of a UNRWA training center in Kalandia and facilities in eastern Jerusalem. The international group called on Israel to "honor its commitments" and cease interference with UNRWA's operations, asserting that UN facilities are protected under international law. In response, the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated, "Your facts are wrong. You support an organization that is a breeding ground for terrorism, and you prefer to attack Israel with baseless accusations instead of acting for the benefit of Arab children in Kafr Akab. This is a disgrace." Israel claimed over 100 UNRWA employees participated in the October 7 Hamas attack and that UNRWA never had permission to use the compound, which is now planned to become a school and community center. This follows Prime Minister Netanyahu's directive to evacuate the compound, asserting Israel will not allow an organization with employees involved in terrorism to operate in its territory.
