Israel Navy could upend Turkish maritime threat by flipping Egypt to its side – exclusive

Despite recent diplomatic and military rapprochement between Turkey and Egypt, senior Israeli defense sources believe there are opportunities for Israel and Cairo to collaborate against Ankara's naval ambitions in the Mediterranean. While some observers suggest a potential Egyptian-Turkish alignment against Israel, others, including Israeli Navy sources, contend that Egypt's concerns about Turkey's maritime expansion align with Israeli interests. Egypt could potentially partner with Israel, Cyprus, and Greece to counterbalance Turkey's assertiveness. This comes as the Israeli Navy adopts a more "forward-leaning" defense posture since October 7, conducting higher-risk special forces operations behind enemy lines, including a Shayetet 13 operation in Naqoura, Lebanon, and missions "thousands of kilometers away from Israel." The Navy has also increased cooperation with the Mossad and Shin Bet, and has admitted to striking Houthi targets in Yemen with long-range precision missiles from naval vessels.
