Israel is adopting a new foreign policy approach, using its increased regional power and economic strength to impose diplomatic consequences on countries that act against its interests. This marks a shift from past reluctance to link behavior in one sphere to consequences in another.

• On September 22, the Netherlands banned imports from beyond the Green Line. In response, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar expelled Dutch representatives from the US-led Gaza coordination center in Kiryat Gat, stating, "Our message is clear: Those who act against Israel will have no foothold in the region."
• This follows a similar action in April when Israel barred Spain from the same center after Spain took hostile measures.
• The editorial suggests that future actions could include diplomatic downgrades or exclusion from specific forums, as Israel is "stronger, richer, larger, and less dependent on the goodwill of governments that demand much from it while asking little of its enemies."
