Israel set to transfer one billion shekels to Defense Ministry for 'urgent, classified procurement'

Israel's Finance and Defense Ministries are preparing to submit a resolution for government approval to transfer an additional NIS 1 billion to the Defense Ministry. This transfer is for "urgent and immediate need to provide an operational response and for the need for classified procurement" due to the current state of emergency. The Ministerial Committee for Defense Procurement approved the transfer on Friday. NIS 850 million will be reallocated from a 2026 technology investment budget, with the remaining NIS 150 million from previously reserved but unallocated funds. A legal opinion supports urgent approval despite it occurring during an election period, citing security imperatives.
