Israel to request information on US F-47 sixth-generation fighter jet, may seek to acquire for IAF

Israel plans to request information on Boeing's secretive F-47 sixth-generation fighter jet, potentially seeking to acquire it for the IAF. This move comes amid regional diplomatic shifts and a global arms race, with Israel also continuing procurement efforts for F-35 and F-15 jets. The F-47 project, developed under strict secrecy, is expected to feature a new engine capable of thrust without fuel, extending its operational range to approximately 2,000 kilometers, a distance relevant for reaching targets in Iran, Iraq, and Yemen. Other anticipated capabilities include advanced AI, onboard drones, and remote operation potential. The US aims to reduce maintenance costs compared to older jets, with initial flights projected for 2028.
