Israel watches US-Iran escalation, offers to join strikes but Washington urges restraint

The U.S. has completed an eighth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, targeting military and infrastructure sites, following attacks by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps on U.S. service members in Jordan. Iran, in turn, launched suicide drones at U.S. targets in Kuwait. Israel is closely monitoring the escalating conflict and has offered to join the strikes, but Washington has urged restraint, preferring Israel remain on the sidelines unless directly attacked by Iran. Israel is preparing for potential expansion of the confrontation, including "surprises" for Tehran, and has prepared its own list of infrastructure targets. The U.S. is also reinforcing its fighter presence in the Middle East and sending additional aerial refueling aircraft to Israeli Air Force bases. Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei accused Washington of violating the ceasefire agreement, stating, "The violation of the memorandum of understanding once again proved the worthlessness of the U.S. president’s signature."
