Israeli Envoy Praises Japan's Response to 2023 Hamas Attack

Israeli Ambassador to Japan, Gilad Cohen, on Tuesday praised Japan's response to the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Speaking at a press conference in Tokyo, Cohen stated that "Japan stood by Israel, said that Israel has the right to defend itself on the international law, condemned Hamas." He expressed hope for enhanced public and private sector cooperation between Japan and Israel, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence, as the two nations approach their 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year. Cohen also emphasized Japan's potential role in contributing to peace, economy, cooperation, and stability in the Middle East, including through cooperation in pressuring Hamas and reconstructing Gaza's infrastructure. He concluded by asserting that "Israel wants peace with all its neighbors."
