Israeli father killed trying to save son from river in Slovenia

Gil Hillel, a 44-year-old Israeli father from Kibbutz Yizre’el, died on Saturday during a family trip in Slovenia while attempting to save his seven-year-old son. The tragedy occurred when his son fell into a river from a canyon during a hike. Hillel, in an effort to rescue the boy, reportedly lost his grip and fell into a ravine. His son sustained a broken leg and other injuries but is expected to recover.

Hillel's brother, Ben, described him as devoted to his family, while his wife, Rotem, expressed profound grief, stating, “I can’t imagine my life without you.”
