Israeli filmmaker of 'NAZA' under scrutiny over longstanding ties to Hamas-linked activist

Israeli filmmaker Yuval Avraham, whose film 'NAZA' recently won the Special Jury Prize at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, is under scrutiny for his longstanding ties to Palestinian activist Ahmed Alnaouq. Investigative journalist Eitan Fischberger reported on Sunday that Avraham and Alnaouq co-founded the "Across the Wall" initiative in late 2019, a platform for young Palestinians to share their stories. Alnaouq serves as vice president and treasurer of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, an organization designated by Israel as a terrorist entity since 2015 due to its alleged dissemination of "blood libels and conspiracy theories." Furthermore, Alnaouq's brother, Ayman, was eulogized by Hamas's Qassam Brigades as a "member of the resistance" killed in 2014, a claim Alnaouq has also made, stating, "resistance fighters are nothing more than young people who loved life and loved their homeland."
