Israeli man sentenced to 13 years for killing Aysha Rabi in Jewish terror attack

An Israeli man was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Wednesday for the 2018 killing of Palestinian mother Aysha Rabi in a Jewish nationalist terror attack. The Central District Court in Lod also ordered him to pay Rabi's family NIS 258,000. The defendant, who was a minor at the time of the incident, was convicted of manslaughter in circumstances amounting to an act of terrorism, aggravated stone-throwing, and intentionally damaging a vehicle, all classified as terror-related offenses. The court found that he threw a 2-kilogram rock at Rabi's car on Route 60, striking her in the head and causing her death. The conviction, a rare instance for Jewish nationalist terror, was based primarily on DNA evidence found on the rock, despite the defense's arguments challenging its reliability and the defendant's continued denial of involvement. His lawyers and the Honenu legal-aid organization plan to appeal the conviction and sentence to the Supreme Court, citing a dissenting opinion from one of the judges.
